Abstract

In 1985, an act was passed by the parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran which established a new, integrated Ministry of Health and medical education. The ministry was now responsible not only for the health care of the people but also for the education of health personnel. Internationally, it is ac accepted fact that many of the major accomplishments in the area of public health, for which our country is justly famous, have been due to the establishment and expansion of an excellent health care network and its integration into our universities of medical sciences.
